Adam Dance MP Welcomes Decision to Scrap A358 Dualling Scheme

In response to the recent budget announcement that cancelled the A358 dualling project between Ilminster and Taunton due to high costs, Adam Dance, MP for Yeovil and South Somerset, expressed relief at the decision, calling the initial plan "too extensive and too expensive."
Dance advocates for smaller, more practical improvements to ease traffic flow along the A358. He suggests targeted solutions such as a Henlade bypass, modifications at the Southfields roundabout on the A303, and enhanced safety for the Ilminster bypass. These adjustments, he notes, would be more feasible and cost-effective, though he emphasizes the need for Somerset Council and Highways England to secure government backing.

Dance also highlighted the importance of expanding public transportation options, specifically for rural bus services and local rail networks, to support residents without personal vehicles.
