Deliberate Fire Destroys Property in Yeovil
A fire in Yeovil on Saturday, August 3, is believed to have been started deliberately. Fire crews from Yeovil and Somerton responded to the incident near Newton Road in the Stoford area.
Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue received a report of "lots of black smoke" from an agricultural fire involving outdoor storage containers. A fire engine from Yeovil was dispatched and soon requested additional support, including a second fire engine, a water carrier, and eventually a third fire engine.

The incident was logged at 2:24 pm, and by 11:55 pm, all fire crews had left the scene. The fire service confirmed that the blaze involved storage containers filled with gardening and scaffolding equipment, along with 220 bales of hay, all of which were completely destroyed.
To extinguish the fire, crews used two main jets, one hose reel jet, one foam jet, and two sets of breathing apparatus. The incident remains under investigation as of this afternoon.
