Yeovil Man Arrested for Talking to Police Dog During Weymouth Demonstration

In the midst of nationwide riots, a bizarre incident occurred in Weymouth where a Yeovil man was arrested for talking to a police dog. The arrest took place during heightened tensions and increased police presence in the town centre as Dorset Police monitored a peaceful demonstration.

David Fuller, a 62-year-old resident of Yeovil, was reportedly seen engaging in conversation with a police dog on duty. Eyewitnesses stated that Fuller appeared sober and was speaking in a friendly manner to the dog, part of a K9 unit patrolling the area. As the dog cages were open, Fuller, a known dog lover, approached the back of the K9 van, kindly stroking and talking to the animals.

According to witnesses, the police officer handling the dog became aggressive despite Fuller’s peaceful demeanor. The situation escalated when the officer grabbed Fuller by the arm, causing injury, and astonishingly arrested him for being drunk and disorderly. Many witnesses around the K9 van told Yeovil Real News that Fuller was fully coherent at the time of his arrest.

As Yeovil Real News covered the peaceful demonstration, the local reporter, who also witnessed the arrest, said: "I couldn't believe later when following up my reports that the man was charged. He certainly wasn't drunk and his only 'crime' was stroking and talking to the police dog. It was a clear case of overzealous policing by a tense officer."

Speaking to Yeovil Real News today, Fuller confirmed the reports. "I was not drunk at all. I had traveled independently to Weymouth with my partner, Jo. Like many other peaceful demonstrators, we had walked along the seafront. At the end of the evening, I saw the lovely dogs in their van with their cage doors open. Feeling for the dogs, I went over to commend them while giving them a loving stroke. The next thing I knew, a police officer was barking at me before grabbing me by the arm and arresting me. It was only then that the police dogs became agitated and started barking."

Fuller continued to explain how he was treated at the police station after making a complaint about the "excessive force" that caused him serious injury to his arm. "Because I complained, I was thrown in the cells and not given food or a hot drink for over 12 hours or allowed access to a solicitor."

Fuller has now been charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place following the protest in the seaside town. He is to appear at Weymouth Magistrates' Court on August 22.

Around 200 Stand Up to Racism demonstrators and 400 anti-immigration protesters gathered at the seafront, and the demonstration, unlike many others in the UK, remained peaceful with only Fuller and one other person arrested.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is accused of ordering 'Two Tier Policing' as Muslim protesters are widely reported on the streets of Britain, carrying machetes, swords, and knives as they attack demonstrators.

Now Yeovil demonstrators are set to demonstrate outside and within Weymouth Magistrates on August 22nd as they feel the arrest was unjust.

A demonstrator told Yeovil Real News: ' This was a clear case of a police officer having a bad day and using his powers to arrest an innocent man - we will be campaigning at the court, the police should not be getting away with this, Dave was sober and stroking a dog, the police just wanted arrests, to make it look like an ungraceful demonstration.'

Although the arrest could now spark police & demonstrator confrontations in the town of Yeovil following what appears to be a political unjust arrest.

August the 18th see's a mass demonstration in Yeovil Town Centre being promoted by Tommy Robinson with the situation of Dorset's police actions against an innocent Yeovil man likely to spark troubles in the area.
