BBC SOUTH ACCUSED OF FRAMING AND BIASED REPORTING OF PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION IN WEYMOUTH
Yesterday, as previously reported, residents of Yeovil took trains and cars to Weymouth for a peaceful demonstration concerning the state of the country. The event, which focused on issues such as immigration and the cessation of winter fuel payments for pensioners while illegal immigrants are funded and placed in hotels at taxpayers' expense, gathered at Weymouth Town Clock at 5 pm.
Despite the presence of a 'mob' that turned out to challenge the demonstrators, the event remained peaceful. The crowd, consisting of former war heroes, grandmothers, and mothers with prams, were branded 'Far Right' by the national media and Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a national address.
Protesters have since accused the BBC of 'framing' them and exaggerating events, alleging biased reporting.
Yeovil Real News, which attended the event, reported no violence during the evening.
The two groups of demonstrators expressed their frustrations while being kept apart by the police, who, at times, appeared to intimidate protesters. Media reports from BBC South have been criticised for 'mocking up' a different scenario.
Look at how the BBC framed Weymouth yesterday. A group of people become “anti immigration protest” and apparently both sides “marched at each other”. The truth is police kept us in one place and allowed us to be surrounded. No wonder people don’t trust this propaganda machine…. pic.twitter.com/1ABktoaFOa

Protester Martin, from Yeovil told Yeovil Real News: ' The way the BBC have reported yesterdays events are disgraceful - a totally biased report of what actually took place - The BBC are clearly reporting how the establishment want them too, to make us look like we are Far Right thugs, we aren't that at all, we are just British working class people who have had enough.'
Whilst another stated: Didn't meet any fascist except the Police.'
Meanwhile train crew, carrying protesters back to Yeovil said: ' No issues at all - every protester was well behaved, we've had far worse from Saturday night revellers' before adding ' I'm sure the national press will make it out to be totally different though' finished the GWR member of staff.
