Fifth Suspect Charged in Murder of Convicted Yeovil Rapist Michael Wheeler
A fifth individual has been charged in connection with the murder investigation of Michael Wheeler, a convicted rapist from Yeovil, whose body was discovered after being missing for over a month.
Concerns for Wheeler's welfare were raised on 16 September after he missed several routine appointments. His car was later found abandoned, triggering a police search. On 25 September, police made a grim discovery when specialist search dogs located human remains at a property in Yarlington, near Wincanton, Somerset.
Angus Warner, 32, has now been charged with conspiracy to murder and made an appearance at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Warner was remanded in custody as investigations continue.
This latest charge follows a series of arrests in connection with Wheeler's death, as the police piece together the events leading up to the discovery of his body. The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates are expected in the coming weeks.
The case has sent shockwaves through the Yeovil community, with many residents following the developments closely as police work to uncover the full details surrounding the killing.
He will appear before a judge at Bristol Crown Court on 25 October.
Four other men have also been charged with the murder of the 37-year-old and have been remanded into custody ahead of future court appearances.
Avon and Somerset Police arrested a further two men and a woman on suspicion of assisting an offender, but they have since been released under investigation.
Another man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, is currently on police bail.
Mr Wheeler's family have been updated and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
Avon and Somerset Police has appealed for anyone with information which could aid their investigation to come forward.
