Two people taken to Yeovil hospital after two vehicle crash

Two people have been taken to Yeovil hospital after a two-vehicle crash near Stalbridge.

The crash happened just before 9am this morning with one person having to be cut free from their vehicle by the fire service. 

Both people were taken to hospital, but the severity of their injuries remains unknown. 

It took over three hours for the road to be cleared. 

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 8.49am on Friday May 24 to a report of a two vehicle collision outside Landshire Country Foods in Landshire Lane near Stalbridge.

"Officers attended with the fire and ambulance services. Recovery requested for the vehicles. There were injuries reported but our log does not say the severity. Road cleared at around 12.20pm."

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called with reports of a road traffic collision at 8:52am today.  One crew from Sherborne was mobilised along with one fire engine from Wincanton.

"On arrival crews found two vehicles involved and two casualties reported. Hydraulic cutting equipment was used to release one of the casualties.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance service said: “We were called at 08.47am on Friday May 24 to an incident near Henstridge.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances to the scene and conveyed two patients by land ambulances to Yeovil District Hospital."
