Man Arrested After Over 1,000 Cannabis Plants Found As Weapons Found In Yeovil
A 28-year-old man has been arrested after police uncovered more than 1,000 cannabis plants during a targeted operation in Shepton Mallet. The discovery was part of Operation Mille, a region-wide initiative by Avon and Somerset Police to tackle cannabis cultivation and drug-related crime across the South West.
Officers from the Frome and Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Policing Teams located the illegal cannabis grow during a search in the Shepton Mallet area. A total of 1,304 cannabis plants were seized and destroyed at the site.
The suspect, who was found at the location, was arrested and charged with the production of a Class B drug. He has been remanded in custody. Police also discovered a set of keys in his possession, which led them to a second address in Yeovil. Further searches at this property revealed another cannabis grow, a quantity of cash, and a weapon.
