Yeovil Man Completes Three-Day Jurassic Coast Trek for Macmillan Cancer Support

Tyrone Humphreys, from Yeovil, successfully completed a grueling three-day trek along the Jurassic Coastline, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Beginning at South Haven Point near Studland on August 30 and finishing in Exmouth on September 1, Humphreys is aiming to raise £1,000 for the charity, with his JustGiving fundraiser still active.

Humphreys was motivated to undertake the challenge after two of his loved ones were diagnosed with cancer in the past year. “Macmillan supported them through surgery, radiography, and chemotherapy,” he said. “I wanted to do something to say thank you to Macmillan, who help so many people living with cancer, but also to help raise cancer awareness.”

The trek, covering over 95 miles of rugged coastline, was not without its challenges. Humphreys faced fatigue and difficult weather conditions, often clinging to undergrowth to avoid being blown off the cliffs. Despite the hardships, he remained focused on the cause. “There were times when I was worried it would be too difficult, as my body started to fatigue, but the variety of those different places, as well as the deserving cause, kept me going,” he explained.

If Humphreys surpasses his £1,000 goal, he plans to tackle the next part of the South West Coast Path, extending his journey to Teignmouth.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides vital services to individuals and families affected by cancer, offering care and guidance through challenging times. Tyrone’s trek highlights the importance of such support and the strength of the community in rallying behind those affected by the disease.
