Yeovil Crime Figures Reveal Grim Reality: Town Ranks 2nd Most Dangerous in Somerset
Yeovil has been revealed as the second most dangerous town in Somerset, with an alarming crime rate of 110 incidents per 1,000 residents. The latest figures, which highlight sex crimes as the most reported offenses, have shocked the community and raised serious questions about local policing and governance.
Podcast Host Left Stunned by Crime Stats
Local podcaster Steven Calis, known for his efforts to promote Yeovil, admitted he was "dumbfounded" by the grim statistics. "I’ve always tried to highlight the positives of our town, but these figures are impossible to ignore. It’s a wake-up call for everyone," he said on his latest episode.
Despite the high number of reported crimes, Yeovil Police face mounting criticism for their handling of cases. Conviction rates are described as "substandard," and multiple residents allege that even serious crimes, such as child sexual abuse, are often dismissed with offenders not being interviewed.
"It’s disheartening," said one resident who wished to remain anonymous. "When we report these crimes, we’re told it’s 'not in the public interest' to pursue them. How can that be right?"
MP Adam Dance Criticized for Inaction
Newly elected MP Adam Dance has also faced criticism for what residents describe as a lackluster approach to addressing the town’s spiraling crime problem. Despite numerous complaints from constituents, there appears to be little progress in tackling the issues that have plagued Yeovil.
Jane Welch remarked, "We need strong leadership, and we’re not getting it. Adam Dance is more focused on PR stunts than rolling up his sleeves and addressing the serious challenges we’re facing."
International Perspective: 'The Pits of Earth'
The situation in Yeovil has even drawn international attention. A Canadian investigative journalist, who visited the town to look into alleged online fraud operations linked to a Yeovil resident, did not mince words about her experience.
"The town really is the pits of the earth," she told Yeovil Regional News. "It has nothing going for it apart from the corruption, lies, and deceit from its authorities."
Residents Call for Accountability
With the crime figures now public, the community is demanding action. Local groups have called for an independent review of Yeovil Police’s handling of serious crimes and a push for more transparency and accountability.
"We deserve better," said a community leader . "If our police and politicians can’t protect us, then who will? Yeovil needs urgent reform, and it needs it now."
A Bleak Future Without Change
As Yeovil’s reputation continues to decline, many fear the town’s problems will only worsen without significant intervention. The latest crime statistics have left residents questioning whether their home can ever escape its growing shadow of crime and controversy.
For now, the people of Yeovil are left hoping that their cries for help will finally be heard.

It’s not just criminal activity it’s also the lack of safety by some schools/housing estates, especially primrose lane on the Wyndham park est, been open 7 years no yellow lines no zigzag for school. , parking on estate is park anywhere, drop kerbs, on pavement, on corners. Blocking residents in because they park infront of their cars during school run stopping households leaving, it’s a matter of time before a child gets hurt or killed
