MOTHER REPORTS DAUGHTER RECOVERING AFTER BEING POISONED BY ICE CREAM SOLD FROM AN ICE CREAM VAN IN YEOVIL
A worried young mother has thankfully reported that her 8 year old daughter is starting to recover after being poisoned by ' dodgy' Ice cream sold from an Ice cream van in Yeovil.
Hannah West, was horrified when her young daughter returned home with an ice cream purchased near Stiby Road, complaining that it tasted disgusting and smelt.
On inspection by the concerned mother, the ice cream was foul smelling and clearly rancid, to which she discarded the offending Ice Cream.
Although, sadly, the young girl had eaten enough to give her food poisoning and became very unwell.
Now, after days of sickness, Hannah West has taken to social media to report that thankfully her daughter is just starting to regain her health.
She wrote:
As the case was reported, Yeovil Real News, soon discovered an unlicensed Ice Cream vendor was operating in the local vicinity, known as Coco Ices.
The operator of Coco Ices, point blankly refused to produce licences that are required to vend Ice Cream from a van
During the weekend, the operator of Coco Ices, has become threatening and abusive towards investigators investigating the situation.
At this stage though, of the investigation, it's not known who the perpetrator of the poisoned ice cream was, but unlicensed vans have been discovered.
Whilst reports and findings have been sent to the health authorities for Somerset to investigate with an urge to inspect vending vans and tackle the situation of unlicensed operators in the area.
Listeria is one of the main diseases that can be spread by Ice Cream, that can cause poisoning, miscarriage and still birth of unborn children, as well as severe sickness.
Residents of Yeovil are now urged to request full licenses of ice cream vendors prior to purchasing ice cream from any vendor, whilst advised to look for the green badge hygiene rating.

Heather Ward, In her warning, also posted the full effects 'bad ice cream' can cause.
Talking to Yeovil Real News this morning, a retired health inspector said: ' Whilst there are many fully legally abiding vendors in the UK, there are also unscrupulous vendors, who are normally unlicensed. Sadly, the perception that all Ice cream vans would be fully legally abiding is common place, whilst leaving both adults and children at health risk.'
