The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous to protect her family's identity, shared her concerns with Yeovil Real News, urging parents to stay vigilant.
The offender, who is known to authorities, Simon Godfrey allegedly reached out to the woman’s child via social media. She said, “I was horrified to find out that this individual, a known registered sex offender, had been messaging my child. Thankfully, I discovered it before any harm was done, but parents need to be aware that this is happening in our town.”
The mother reported the incident to the police, who hopefully have launched an investigation. She added, “I can’t stress enough how important it is for parents to monitor their children’s online activity. These individuals can easily target vulnerable children through platforms they use daily.”
Although Yeovil which is known as a hotbed for sex offenders and paedophiles, doesn't have a high rate of police action in arresting and interviewing offenders. Although as the alleged offender is already on the register, local residents are hoping for police action on this occasion.
