Outrage as Mother Lets Underage Daughter Drive in South Petherton Cemetery

A woman named Polly Wonger, who goes by "Polly Lavinia" on social media, has sparked public outrage after posting videos showing her 15-year-old daughter driving at speed through South Petherton Cemetery.

Wonger took to TikTok to share footage of her daughter, who has no driving license or insurance, recklessly navigating the cemetery, with headstones visible in the background. In one clip, Wonger can be seen tapping her daughter’s leg, signaling her to slow down.

The videos quickly ignited a public backlash, with many condemning Wonger for her actions. One viewer, Susan Baker, expressed her anger, stating:

“IDIOTIC sensation-seeking mother. Disrespectful to so many families. Teaching your daughter to drive with no seat belt shows you don't care one bit about her safety. Perhaps you should enquire if you can book your daughter a plot, but I think they're nearly full. I hope this is sent to the police.”

Another commenter, Nickey Kay, refrained from voicing her full thoughts due to moderation rules, simply stating, "But it just shows some people will do anything for attention." Meanwhile, local resident Gemma Hopkins added, "You both want locking up. Have some respect; that's people's loved ones, and I have family resting at this cemetery. You should be ashamed of yourselves."

In response to the backlash, Wonger dismissed the criticism, boldly claiming, in the comments on her TikTok account.

"I go where I choose, not where others choose for me to go,"

Despite this, many in the community are outraged by the lack of respect shown to their deceased loved ones. Several residents are now calling for Wonger to be banned from the cemetery altogether, with some urging local MP Adam Dance, who resides nearby in South Petherton, to take action.

One mourner, who wished to remain anonymous, voiced her frustration: "It's time Adam took a stance about this. This is totally unacceptable and should not be allowed in any circumstance. It’s so disrespectful to all our loved ones."

As the videos gained attention, other disturbing footage of Wonger emerged. In one clip, she is seen dancing by the cemetery arches, and in another, she appears to be removing statues from a grave, declaring herself "the boss."

These additional videos have only fuelled the anger of local residents, with many now calling for formal action against Wonger.

The incident has raised concerns over the misuse of the cemetery and disrespect shown to the graves of loved ones, with calls for stronger enforcement to prevent further incidents of this nature. As of now, residents are hoping their complaints will prompt local authorities and MP Adam Dance to address the matter and restore peace to the cemetery whilst banning the perpetrator from the cemetery.

Meanwhile, it's understood from witnesses, the daughter driving in the car, was at Yeovil Magistrates claiming that she could hardly use her arms after an alleged attack, whilst the video in question demonstrates they are fully functional as he slings around recklessly the steering wheel.

However, a well respected Funeral Director, told Yeovil Real News how he feels MP Adam Dance should act to protect the hundreds of residents who visit the cemetery to pay their respects to their loved ones.

He said: '

Yes, you can be banned from a cemetery. Cemeteries are often managed by local authorities, religious institutions, or private organisations, and they have the right to set rules and regulations to ensure respectful and appropriate behaviour on the grounds. If someone repeatedly disrespects the cemetery or engages in disruptive or illegal activities, such as vandalism, dangerous behaviour, or trespassing, they can be banned from entering.

In cases like the one you described, where someone is using a cemetery for inappropriate purposes (such as allowing underage driving or other disruptive activities), the management of the cemetery or local authorities could take action to restrict that person's access, potentially banning them from returning. This could be enforced through legal orders, such as a trespassing notice or a formal ban by the cemetery's governing body.

Public backlash and pressure from the community might also prompt local authorities to take steps in such cases, ensuring that the cemetery remains a place of peace and respect for visitors and the deceased. On that basis I urge everybody to contact the MP who is disgusted by this behaviour.'
