Yeovil Town Set to Face Rochdale for 11th Time in Bank Holiday Clash
Yeovil Town is gearing up for their 11th encounter with Rochdale this Bank Holiday Monday, in what promises to be a pivotal match for both sides. The historic rivalry between the Glovers and Rochdale is evenly balanced, with each team having secured four victories and two draws in their past meetings.
The last time these two teams met was during the 2014/15 season, where Rochdale managed to do the double over Yeovil, winning 3-0 at home and 2-1 away. This time around, Mark Cooper and his squad will be eager to tip the scales in their favor, especially after a disappointing 3-1 loss to Gateshead on Saturday.
The match against Gateshead was a frenetic, end-to-end affair, with both teams creating plenty of chances. However, defensive frailties proved costly for Yeovil, who conceded three goals. Despite hitting the post and being denied a potential equalizer by a controversial officiating decision, the Glovers were unable to take anything from the game.
As they prepare to face Rochdale, Cooper will need to address these defensive issues if Yeovil hopes to make their mark in the history books. Rochdale, meanwhile, is still searching for their best form this season. Despite a solid defensive performance that earned them a goalless draw against Forest Green Rovers, they have yet to fully hit their stride.

Rochdale’s on-loan goalkeeper, Luke McNicholas,
who secured his second clean sheet of the season in Saturday’s draw, reflected on the game with mixed feelings. “It was a good point to take away. We wanted more and I think we could have had more,” McNicholas said. “We’re disappointed, but that’s football. We’ll work on how we need to break down teams when we play like we did today. It’s a learning experience for us and it will help us going forward.”

With the quick turnaround before Monday’s match, McNicholas emphasized the importance of preparation. “We’ll be in for recovery on Sunday. We’ll do some analysis on the game, but our focus will then be on Monday and getting prepared for that,” he added. “I think we have a really good group and you can see it’s coming together. With time and work on the training pitch, I think it will click really soon.”
As both teams look to make a statement this season, Monday’s clash at Huish Park is shaping up to be a crucial contest. For Yeovil, it’s an opportunity to right the wrongs of their previous outing, while Rochdale will be aiming to finally find their form and take home the points.
